Every year as a nation we take the time to give God thanks for the many blessings that we received/experience over the past year. This tradition started many years ago but another tradition that we look forward to is Black Friday and Cyber Monday. As a matter of fact the whole weekend has been looked forward to with great anticipation all year. People hold their breath for the mega sales especially in the tech and electronics market, on that weekend. You can’t help but wonder for some of us, how much of Thanksgiving has become more about the sales and less about the purpose for which it was started.

As we look back over the preceding two years (2020/2021), battling a pandemic the likes we have never seen, and having lost so much in human life, finances, relationships and the list goes on, those of us who are alive know that there is so much to give God thanks for.

As I sat around the dinner table at Thanksgiving with my family and we reflected on and expressed verbally the things we gave God thanks for, I was feeling especially grateful and humbled. Things could have been so different. That is not to say that I/we did not have any challenges but we also know that God made a way for us inspite of it all.

So I hope you had a wonderful time with your family and friends. Since Christmas is around the corner, let’s continue to reflect on God’s goodness and remember the reason for the season.
